The Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards on Thursday confirmed it is weighing whether to investigate the death of Enrique Delgado-Garcia at the Massachusetts State Police training facility in New Braintree.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Monday that his office will not handle the investigation into the death of a Massachusetts State Police recruit after a training exercise last week because it would be a conflict given that the trooper used to work as a victim witness advocate for his office.

Sources say he was in the rink with someone else when he stumbled onto the mat but stood back up the fight was allowed to continue. He then collapsed following a blow to the head.
