The Tigers look to make a hard push heading into the Midsummer Classic, as they hope to stay at the top of the Major League Baseball standings before Monday. They are riding high thanks to a stretch of good play, having swept the Cleveland Guardians, on the road, last weekend, before taking two of three from the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the week.

Jorge Polanco and Cole Young hit back-to-back solo home runs in a four-run ninth inning and the Seattle Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 to complete a three-game sweep.

Much like his All-Star teammate Tarik Skubal did on Friday, July 11, Mize put in his worst start of the year right before the All-Star break as the Tigers lost 15-7 to the Mariners at Comerica Park. It was the most runs the Tigers have allowed in a game this season.

The Seattle Mariners’ bats stayed hot on Saturday, July 12, at Comerica Park. While Detroit’s offense did produce, the Tigers just couldn’t keep up. The Mariners defeated the Tigers, 15-7.
