Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru have pledged one million Indian rupees ($11,654) to each family of the 11 fans who died in a crowd surge outside the team's home stadium on Wednesday during celebrations following their maiden IPL title.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday announced compensation for the families of 11 victims who lost their lives in a tragic stampede near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the franchise’s maiden IPL title-winning celebrations.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) management has announced a financial aid of ₹10 lakh to the families of 11 dead during the victory celebrations on Wednesday at the Chinnaswamy stadium post the franchise's maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph.

Police said around 50,000 people had gathered within a 1-km radius of the stadium, and many tried to push through gates or climb over barriers.

Eleven people have been killed and dozens injured in a crush outside a cricket stadium in Bengaluru, which was hosting a victory parade to celebrate the home team's Indian Premier League win, the state's chief minister said.
