‘Significant’ damage in north Alabama, EF-1 tornado blows roof off courthouse
A storm that blew through Alabama overnight Saturday into Sunday morning took the roof off the Limestone County Courthouse and caused damage to the Square in downtown Athens. The National Weather Service in Huntsville has determined the damage was caused by an EF-1 tornado with maximum wind speeds of up to 100 mph along a path of up to 160 yards.
