Florian Wirtz is expected to seal a £126m move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window after he decided against joining Bayern Munich, who held a 'secret' meeting

After getting turned down by Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, Bayern Munich have shifted their focus to a Premier League star.

Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has seemingly turned down Bayern Munich in favor of a switch to Premier League champion Liverpool.

Florian Wirtz’s name is likely on every top club’s transfer wishlist thanks to his remarkable talent, though it seems Brazilian superstar Neymar isn’t familiar with him. In an interview with Sky Sports Germany, Neymar admitted he does not know Wirtz when asked if the Bayer Leverkusen star.

It is Liverpool who are leading the race for Wirtz after the Germany international informed Bayern Munich of his desire to move to Anfield. With Manchester City withdrawing their interest amid concerns over the price of a deal, the Reds appeared to be the most likely landing spot for the 22-year-old.

Wirtz has been targeted by both clubs but is believed to favour Liverpool — although they would still need to agree a deal with Leverkusen.

Liverpool are also reportedly in talks with Bayer over Wirtz’s team-mate Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman, who has a £30million release clause in his contract, could be the replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is joining Real Madrid.

Talks with Liverpool manager Arne Slot are believed to have swayed Wirtz, who is now hopeful of continuing his career under the Dutchman. However, despite a personal agreement with Wirtz, the finances involved in such a deal means there is still plenty of work to do.

Bayern will look to get revenge on Liverpool for the Florian Wirtz battle by signing an Anfield star instead, it has been revealed.
