Giving almost no time for public review, Illinois Democrats pushed through a $55.2 billion budget for next fiscal year late Saturday.

Central Illinois lawmakers had predictably partisan reactions to the official state budget for the next fiscal year. The budget includes $55.2 billion in spending, a 3.9% increase. Revenue estimates total $55.

The $55 billion budget plan unveiled Friday night by Democratic leadership would include new taxes on gambling as well as tobacco and vape products.
